Bolton boss Dougie Freedman reckons his team "controlled the game" as they beat Albion 1-0.
Wanderers were pressed back for long periods either side of Marcos Alonso's first-half strike but their manager felt the situation was always in hand.
Freedman said: "I felt we controlled the game out of possession.
"In other games we have controlled the game in possession.
"With the way Brighton play and the threats they have it was about defending out of possession."
Freedman said his team got their tactics right against the Seagulls.
He told bwfc.co.uk "They possess some fantastic forward play and towards the end of the game they really tested us but we stood up to the challenge."
