Am flying over to Ireland with my Mum's ashes tomorrow to intern them into the family plot and cannot get a straight answer from EasyJet about specifics of carrying them. One person says they need to be in a cardboard box, one says tightly wrapped, another says loosely wrapped for inspection. Anyone on here had experience with this, it's becoming really complicated? Thanks.

Ashes are permitted in hand baggage. A copy of the death certificate and the cremation certificate must be provided and the ashes must be securely packaged in an appropriate container which you need to include in your hand baggage. We advise you to inform the handling agent at the airport that you are carrying ashes and to inform security when passing through the security area.

Human remains are not allowed for carriage on any routes.

The Astral Planes, man...
You will need a copy of the death certificate and the 'Certificate of cremated remains' which you should have been given by the crematorium.
You also need an 'Out of England' certificate. This has to be purchased from the crematorium concerned and will cost about £10.
No special packaging is required.
Suggest you contact EasyJet again and ask them if they have any of their own rules, just in case.
