Inigo Calderon admits he felt sorry for the fans who paid to watch last night’s bore draw at Ashton Gate.
But the Albion left-back was happy with a clean sheet and another point towards the play-off push.
The Seagulls defended strongly to draw 0-0 against a City side aiming for their fifth successive home win.
Calderon said: “I think the main thing is when you realise you can’t win, it is important you get a point.
“We can’t learn too much from this game. I feel sorry for the fans because it wasn’t pretty to watch but it’s a football game, you have to play and get as many points as you can.”
Albion struggled to get their passing game going.
Calderon added: “We realised quite late we couldn’t play how we like to play. It took us maybe all the first half to realise that, then we started to go more long and direct.
“They didn’t look like they were bottom of the table. They played quite well so it was fair for both teams.”
Bristol City boss Sean O’Driscoll said: “A clean sheet against a difficult team is a positive for us.”
Albion face two more away games, at Bolton and Barnsley, in the coming week.
Calderon added: “Every game is different. You can’t say those games will be the same. Bolton will be difficult but the key thing now is to rest and recover because there are too many players with small problems.”
