Charlie Austin scores the winner for Burnley at home to Albion last Easter
Striker Charlie Austin will pose a threat for Burnley today – just as he has in the past.
Austin scored on his first four starts against the Seagulls after being signed by Swindon from non-league football at Poole in the summer of 2009.
Three of those goals were for Swindon, including winners both at the County Ground and Withdean.
He also got the clincher when Albion lost 1-0 at Burnley on Good Friday last year.
Austin will operate as the lone out-and-out striker but boss Sean Dyche must decide whether to use Danny Ings, who has recovered from a hamstring problem, just off him or stick with deep-lying midfielder Brian Stock, who is a shrewd passer of the ball.
Look for Junior Stanislas to be a threat out wide for the Clarets.
He can operate down the right but is more of danger cutting in from the left on to his right foot, as he proved when forcing Gordon Greer into an own goal when Albion won in East Lancs this term.
Kieran Trippier is also a man to watch. The former Manchester City right-back is one of the best in his position in the Championship.
He fired the winner at The Amex last season when the nine-man hosts ran out of players to close him down at the edge of the penalty area.
Trippier leads Burnley in assists this season. He has set up eight league goals, six them finished off by Austin, who has netted 20 times in the Championship and 24 in all competitions.
Dyche warned: “Brighton are a good side and they had a good result on Tuesday.
“They are a good home side with a big stadium which is usually full but these are the occasions we want.”
See our five-page match preview in The Argus today for a full scouting report on Burnley, key pre-match facts and stats - and Dyche's message to his men as they aim to silence The Amex.
