First-team coach Charlie Oatway says the squad will not let their foot off the gas following Tuesday's win at table-topping Cardiff.
Albion begin a week of back-to-back Amex fixtures with the visit of Burnley on Saturday, followed by Huddersfield the following weekend, and Oatway sees it is an opportunity to climb the Championship table.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “The manager is very focused and he will never let up, and that rubs off on the whole squad, so there is no chance that we will be taking our foot off the gas.
“When we get on the bus after a game a few of us will relax by watching TV or watching a movie but Gus will just get his laptop out and then start planning for Burnley, or whoever the next game is.
“We might have beaten the league leaders but every game is difficult in this league and if you relax for one game you will get punished. We have a few home games coming up and they are opportunities for us to get another win.
“There’s never been a game where we’ve gone out to try and nick a point or to see if we can shut up shop. We go into every game looking for three points and Saturday will be no different.”
Oatway, who is in his 13th season with the Seagulls, hailed the current crop of players as one of the tightest during his time as a player, coach and staff member.
“We’ve got a great group of lads here. With all respect to the groups that I’ve ever been with or seen, this is one of the strongest. You normally get one or two who you have to keep reining in but we’ve got a great group here and that’s why players like Leonardo Ulloa have fitted in so well.
“Leo works hard, he’s respectful to everyone, a gentleman and a proper man, but the squad have made it easy for him to make connections all over the park. Being able to bond with people is a big factor.
“When we have meals it’s not all the Spanish lads sitting together and different pockets dotted about, the whole squad is constantly mixing up and that helps them on the pitch too.
“We’ve got a strong unit in the coaching set-up too, because we’ve all got our own opinions. We have two South American guys, a cockney boy and a northerner in the goalkeeping coach, Andy Beasley, who all see things in different ways.
“Then behind us four we have another group, and we all work very well with each other. We’ve all got our own opinions and we all share them, but we will all listen to each other and that’s what makes us a very strong unit.”
