Dean Hammond says the Seagulls are not concerned by the prospect of facing league leaders Cardiff City tonight. The Welsh side have stormed to the top of the Championship and look poised to finally break into the Premier League, but Hammond is relishing the prospect of facing the league leaders.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “Like any other game we’ll be prepared for it, we know what Cardiff are about. They’ve got a lot of players who can score goals so there’s a lot of threat in their team.
“Defensively they’re pretty sound as well so they’ll be hard to beat but that’s what you have to do if you want to be successful, you have to share the goals around.
“We know what we want to do; we’ll have a game plan like we always do. We’ll go into the game with a lot of confidence.
“Performance wise, we don’t fear anyone, we know they’re a good team and that they’re top of the league. It shows they’re the best team in the league so we look forward to playing them and testing ourselves against the best team in the league.”
Hammond also believes that it is merely results that separate Albion and their Welsh opponents, and he is confident Gus Poyet’s side can still mount a late promotion push.
“The gap between us suggests there’s a distance between us in terms of quality but there is not within the way we perform, the players and the squad we’ve got.
“It’s just about winning games and unfortunately this year for whatever reason we haven’t, and we should have won more than we have, but there’s still a long way to go.
“There’s fifteen games left and no reason why we can’t go and put a really good run together. We have done it before, and we try and win every game, so the next game's Cardiff and we will try and win that.”
