Lancing were outclassed by Albion’s rampant development squad at Culver Road as the Seagulls soared into the next round of the Sussex Senior Cup with an impressive 5-0 win.
A brace from Torbjorn Agdestein along with strikes from Shamir Goodwin, Solly March and an Anton Rodgers penalty completed the rout.
Luke Williams’ side play the majority of their home games at Culver Road and felt right at home as they were composed and in control from the start; their brand of slick passing football proving too much for the Sussex County Division One outfit.
However it was the hosts who had the opening opportunity of the game when Shaheen Sadough’s drive from distance whistled past Grant Smith’s left-hand post.
But it proved to be the best opening for Lancing as Williams’ team turned on the style in a blistering opening 45 minutes, opening up an unassailable lead by half-time.
January transfer window signing Vitalji Maksimenko scored his first goal in Albion colours when he broke through the host’s defence before casually passing the ball into the net.
Joel Harding denied Albion a second on 19 minutes as he bravely beat away March’s stabbed effort from close range, but the keeper was unable to deny Agdestein minutes later; the Norwegian slotting the ball past Harding after good link up play with March.
A swerving low effort from Goodwin made it 3-0 before the forward won a penalty two minutes later after being felled in the area by Sam O’Regan.
Anton Rodgers stepped up and smashed the resulting corner home to open up a four-goal lead but Williams’ men still had another goal in them before the break; Agdestein adding a second to his tally after some good interplay between himself and Goodwin, before applying the finish.
The Norwegian was close to adding a sixth and completing his hat-trick just after the break but his dinked effort over the keeper fell wide of the mark.
Albion: Smith; Akubuine, Maksimenko (Ince 56), Jones, Hunt (Barry 46); Richards, Rodgers, March (Battipiedi 46); Goodwin, Agdestein, Dickenson. Subs not used: Walton (GK), Sampayo, Dean.
