Gordon Greer has recovered from a hamstring injury
ALBION have been boosted by the return to fitness of Gordon Greer.
The captain has made a full recovery from the hamstring tear he suffered in the FA Cup defeat by Arsenal at The Amex three weeks ago.
Greer’s availability gives manager Gus Poyet a selection dilemma for Tuesday’s trip to Championship leaders Cardiff City.
The Glaswegian centre-half is likely to come straight back into the side, leaving Poyet a choice between Matt Upson and Adam El-Abd to partner Greer against the trailblazing Welshmen.
The pair partnered each other in Greer’s absence in the Seagulls’ 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, last Saturday’s 1-0 home win against Hull City and Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers at The Amex.
Upson joined Albion on loan from Stoke City for the rest of the season at the end of the January transfer window.
Stoke chief Tony Pulis has confirmed the 33-year-old former England international will be leaving when his contract expires in the summer after 11 Premier League starts in 18 months.
Pulis said: “Matty is at Brighton to get himself a contract. He hasn’t played as much for us as he would have wanted but he has been brilliant for us.”
Meanwhile, Ashley Barnes completes his three-match suspension against Cardiff. The striker will be back in contention for next Saturday’s home game against fellow play-off contenders Burnley.
