Marcos Painter has joined League One high-fliers Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.
The left-back joins the Cherries with the south-coast club sitting top of the table having lost only one league game since mid-October, and are currently on a five-game winning run. He will be available to make his debut against Preston North End tomorrow.
Albion boss Gus Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, “Marcos is always a great professional to have around the club but he has not had a lot of chances to play this season because of the form and quality of Wayne Bridge.
“It’s important for Marcos to be playing regular football so it was a good decision for him to move to Bournemouth on loan, where he can help them push for promotion out of League One.
“We hope that he has successful remainder of the season.”
The 26-year-old joined the Seagulls in January 2010, initially on loan from Swansea, before securing a permanent deal that summer.
He played a pivotal role in Albion’s 2010/11 League One winning campaign; ever-present in defence throughout the season and scoring one goal against Walsall in a 2-1 win.
However, a hamstring injury hindered the former Birmingham man’s appearances last season, playing 22 times, although 19 of his appearances came before Christmas.
The defender has featured just three times in the Championship for the Seagulls this season.
