Will Buckley has warned Albion they must start winning regularly at The Amex to mount a Championship play-off charge.
The Seagulls have a chance to close the gap on the top six with back-to-back home games against high-flying away specialists Hull today and Blackburn on Tuesday.
Buckley, fit again following a recurrence of hamstring trouble, believes the next two matches in front of their own supporters are vital.
The winger told The Argus: “Hull are right up there, so it will be a big challenge for us, but when we play home games against teams that are up there we always seem to step our game up and these are the kind of games you want to be playing in.
“We want the result. It’s the home games we need to win. It’s hard to put a number on it but we need to win a lot of them between now and the end of the season and see what we can do away from home, because we know how hard that it for any side in the Championship.”
Albion’s win against Derby in their last home league outing last month was their first for four matches and only their third in 11 at The Amex.
Buckley said: “That’s the frustrating thing about it but we’ve still got time with 17 games left to sort it out. If we go on a good run there is no reason why we won’t get back in that top six.
“It’s a big ask to get two wins out of the next two home games, because we are playing top quality Championship sides, but I think our home form is key for the rest of the season. We need to get back up there where we should be.”
Hull have taken 17 points out of 21 on their travels since their last away defeat in the league at Cardiff in November.
