Lewis*Dunk is back training with Albion and on the brink of a return to action.
The centre-half could have an outing in the development squad as early as Tuesday after resuming training with the first team squad yesterday.
Matt Upson makes his home debut in the centre of defence alongside Adam El-Abd against Hull today (5.20pm), with Inigo Calderon as back-up in the absence through injury of skipper Gordon Greer, but Dunk could soon be back in contention.
Boss Gus Poyet said: “It depends on him. He trained with us, so he is available. We have got a game on Tuesday against QPR and we’ve got the Sussex Senior Cup rearranged for the following Monday.”
Dunk, 21, is one of three Albion players facing a retrial over claims they sexually assaulted a drunk teenage woman in a Brighton hotel room.
A jury at the Old Bailey on Thursday found Dunk not guilty of voyeurism.
But it failed to reach verdicts on whether he, together with Anton Rodgers and George Barker and former team-mate Steve Cook, had sexually assaulted the 19-year-old woman in July 2011.
Dunk was due to make an appearance for the development squad during the trial against Ipswich at Lancing but did not make it back from London in time.
The development squad are at QPR on Tuesday (1pm) and play Lancing in the Senior Cup at Lancing six days later.
Development squad midfield prospect Solly March has signed a new contract until 2015 after appearing on the bench as an unused sub for the first team against Millwall at The Amex in December and at Ipswich on New Year's Day.
Meanwhile, Poyet has confirmed coach Charlie Oatway is contesting an FA charge of improper conduct and has requested a personal hearing after last Saturday's stormy defeat by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Oatway was ordered to the stands along with Wednesday manager Dave Jones, who has also requested a personal hearing.
