Gary Dicker is not underestimating the size of Albion’s task as they travel to Ewood Park to face former Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers. The Lancashire side have endured a testing few months and are on manager number three for the season, but Dicker believes the Seagulls are in for a stern examination.
The Irishman told seagulls.co.uk, “As soon as the fixtures come out you look for the Palace game and then the likes of Blackburn, Wolves and Bolton, so it is a big game against players with a vast amount of experience.
“If you look at their squad they have some really good players; it is going to be a tough game. I don’t think anyone believes it’s going to be an easy match just because they have had a change of manager and been on a bad run.
“We all know football doesn’t go that way and it will be another hard away game, but we have started to pick up from last year. We couldn’t really pick up points on the road last season but this year we have been very good.”
The 26-year-old is also happy that the side are back in action so quickly after conceding a disappointing late equaliser on Saturday at Birmingham.
“After the game Saturday all you want to do is get back out there as the late goal made it feel like a loss. To get a game straight away is the best thing for us.
“We started a bit slowly at Birmingham but once they scored we kicked on, then second half they were always going to throw everything at us. We were coping quite well but it is just one of those things in football.
“Unfortunately for Tomasz [Kuszczak] if you make a mistake as a goalkeeper in football it gets singled out a lot more, but nobody is blaming him and hopefully he can show his qualities against Blackburn.”
