Gus Poyet said he expects one of his side’s biggest tests after they were drawn at home to either Swansea City or Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round...
Their Premier League opponents will be decided following a third-round replay between the Swans and Gunners after they played out a 2-2 draw earlier today.
And both top-flight sides are well known for their free-flowing passing game, similar to that Poyet has implemented at the Amex, which the Uruguayan said will make it difficult for his players.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “Both teams play good football and that will make it very difficult for us. Both teams have also been doing well in the Premier League lately and the game showed that today.
“Either team will be very difficult for us to play against because of the way that they play. I’m not saying it will be impossible for us because anything can happen in the FA Cup but it will be a very difficult game for us.
“It was a very even game earlier; it was not the best first half but then Swansea made changes which worked for them, then it was all Arsenal and they looked to have won it before an equaliser. It was a proper cup tie.”
Poyet’s side knocked Premier League Newcastle United out of the competition with an impressive performance on Saturday and he is pleased for the club and fans now they are set to welcome the fifth top-flight side to the Amex in a competitive fixture, since it opened 18 months ago.
“Nothing changes for me as the manager but it is a great draw for the club, great draw for the fans and great for the players. We will all wait and see what happens in the replay between the two sides now and then we’ll go from there.”
