Ashley Barnes is hoping the win at Ipswich can inspire a run of form...
Ashley Barnes returned to the starting line-up for Albion’s brilliant 3-0 win at Ipswich today and is now eyeing a good run of form to propel Gus Poyet’s side back into the play-offs.The forward told seagulls.co.uk, “I really enjoyed it today, we played really well and long may it continue.
“We all need to stand up to the mark. We need to get the points on the board if we want to be up among the play-offs and we did that today.
“We set out from the start to get promoted and that is what we want and if we can do that it will be a fantastic achievement. But first of all we want to be in those play-offs then you never know.
“If you go on a couple of runs in this league and you are back up there. Like we always say it is a funny old league and anyone can beat anyone.”
The former Plymouth player laid on the second goal for strike partner Craig Mackail-Smith and Barnes felt it was a change in fortunes, matched with a great team ethic that earned Albion the points at Portman Road.
“We all worked as a team, we had the first two chances and lucky enough we scored from them. In recent weeks we have been making chances but maybe it hasn’t been going our way, so to get the first goal is a massive boost.
“We don’t want to go over the top because we have won one game, so we need to keep going and then we will be happy.”
