Albion got into the home penalty area in the first few seconds and their fans at the far end shouted hopefully for a penalty as Hoskins went down contesting a high ball. But, if anything, the Albion man was doing the pushing and play was waved on as the ball was cleared.
Buckley had started game wide on the left with Hoskins to the right and Dobbie just off the central Mackail-Smith. But it appeared the attacking players had licence to swap positions.

Charlton are on a good run but, looking back at the highlights, were very fortunate not to fall behind in their last home game – verus Peterborough – before going on to win 2-0. Ricardo Fuller made the breakthrough that night with a great strike from long range but pulled his hamstring as he did so. Fuller is one of four Charlton strikers who have three goals so far this season. Rob Hulse, Yann Kermorgant and Danny Haynes have also netted three apiece.**Hulse and Haynes start today.*

2:53pm
Some interesting team news today. Albion's steely defence of the opening weeks of the season is, at last re-united, while Hoskins, Dobbie and Mackail-Smith all start.

For younger readers: Charlton were in financial difficulty in the 1980s and had to leave their home ground in the summer of 1985. They hosted matches at Selhurst Park and, for a season and a bit, across the river at Upton Park, while supporters campaigned long and hard to get them back home. They played their first match back here on December 5, 1992, although, apart from the away end, the stadium did not look much like it does today. Charlton beat Portsmouth 1-0 that day with Colin Walsh scoring in the seventh minute. Home fans will mark that goal with applause at 3.07pm this afternoon.

Charlton celebrate the 20th anniversary of their return home today.

It’s celebration time at Charlton today. But Albion could do with a bit of cheer of their own after their troubles in this part of the world seven days ago. A week on from defeat at Crystal Palace, the Seagulls come just a little further north east to play the Addicks as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their return to The Valley.
