Goals from Richards, Agdestein and Cousins secured a comfortable win...
Albion’s development squad won 3-0 at Barnet yesterday with Courtney Richards, Torbjorn Agdestein and youth-team player George Cousins netting in the friendly.Luke Williams' side made it four clean sheets in a row, and the goalscoring got underway within 30 seconds of the start.
Albion broke quickly down the right and Shamir Goodwin’s cross was met first time by Richards – who didn’t have to break stride – as he side-footed the ball into the goal.
The Seagulls controlled the game from then on although the Bees, with a mixture of fringe first-team players and triallists, did start to create some chances early in the second half.
But Albion confirmed the win the two goals in the side closing 15 minutes; Richards turned provider with an angled ball to Agdestein wide on the left and the Norwegian broke into the box and went around two players before curling the ball into the right corner.
Then it was Agdestein’s time to architect the third when he intercepted a weak pass from the Barnet goalkeeper. He drove into the box and unselfishly squared to Cousins, who calmly turned the ball into the goal.
The development squad are next in action on Monday and it’s under the Amex lights for the first time this season when they take on Swansea City in the Professional Development League, kick-off 7pm.
Williams has been impressed with his side's recent form and he wants a good team performance in front of the Amex crowd.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “The key is for them to focus on what makes them a good team. They haven’t conceded in the last four games and they are starting to score goals too. It started with a 0-0 at Charlton and now they have won 3-0 at Barnet, so they need to play to their strengths as a team and not play as individuals to the crowd.
“It is a big game for the lads and it will be nice to play at the Amex, so they are all looking forward to it. Because of the way that we play it does help when the pitch is in fantastic condition, like the Amex, because we can move the ball a bit quicker.
“Players don’t have to think too much about their first touch and more about what they are going to do with the ball when it gets to them.”
