No extra motivation will be needed on Saturday according to Gus Poyet...
Gus Poyet said that his players will not require any motivation from the coaching staff as they attempt to reward the Albion fans with three points at Selhurst Park.
The Albion boss expects cool heads from his players but acknowledged that the squad are well aware of the game’s importance to Seagulls supporters.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “I always approach these games with one view in mind and that is that there is only one good result for us. That’s winning. It’s very simple.
“Any other result depends on the game, depends on decisions and depends whether the game is 11 versus 11, or the referee makes a big decision.
“No matter where you play, you have got to go into a derby game focusing on the win. That is our mentality and I expect that Crystal Palace are the same. There are two teams trying to win a big game for their fans.
“There is no need for motivation, but the new players might not know what to expect. If you haven’t played in a game like this you don’t know so it’s sometimes good to remind them how important it is for everyone associated with Brighton.
“It’s like any other big derby and it should be really easy to get the players ready. We need to make sure that we do what we do best though; control the situation but also be more clinical in front of goal.”
Poyet has encouraged the travelling Albion fans to enjoy their eagerly-anticipated fixture and the sell-out atmosphere on Saturday, but has urged everyone just to focus on the game.
“These games are great opportunities to go and support your team at your best. Nothing over the line though. These days are about giving your maximum as a fan and expecting your team to give their maximum on the pitch, because it’s the most important game for them.
“We want the fans to go and support Brighton. Support us and we will try our best to give you a very good afternoon. It’s a sport and that’s enough to enjoy, there should be nothing more. Enjoy the game please."
