Simon Rusk's youth side secured back-to-back away friendly wins with a 4-2 victory over Birmingham City...
Albion’s youth team fought back from 2-0 down to record a brilliant 4-2 friendly win at Birmingham City.Simon Rusk’s side endured a miserable first half but a brace from Charlie Harris and goals from Callum Overton and Ben Gray completed a magnificent comeback.
It was the hosts that started the brightest and a defensive lapse allowed the Blues to take the lead after 18 minutes.
Birmingham piled on the pressure and extended their advantage from the penalty spot after a Dylan Lall foul.
The contest was looking lost for the Seagulls as they went in at the break but Rusk’s side turned in a tremendous second-half effort.
The comeback began through Under-16 player Overton who was played through one-on-one by Harris and showed great composure to half the deficit.
Harris then put his name on the scoresheet as he levelled the match with a curled right-foot strike into the top corner.
Albion took the lead for the first time when Jack Rowe-Hurst’s cross was headed home by Gray before Harris grabbed his second to secure the win.
After the win Rusk told seagulls.co.uk, “We had a slightly disjointed side out due to a few injuries we picked up and the first-half performance was a bit sloppy.
“We had a good chat at half time and got a good response; we used the ball a lot more effectively and although I wouldn’t say it was a great performance, it was a clinical one.
“Goals have been a problem for us this season so I was pleased to see us score four good goals.
"Credit to them, not for the first time this year they have come back from two down and showed great spirit. The boys should take confidence from this result and the win against Manchester City last week."
Albion: Wray (Colquhoun 46) (GK), Benham, Gauti (Rea 46), Cooper (Peake 80), Lall; Emile, Wiltshire, Harris (Collar 85); Ragnar (Rowe-Hurst 60), Overton, Muitt (Gray 36).
