Albion’s development squad top scorer George Barker has agreed a loan deal with League Two Barnet until the 5th January.The striker has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions for the development squad, including a hat-trick against Colchester United in a 6-2 win, as well as providing seven assists.
The skilful forward is highly rated within the development ranks and coach Luke Williams is delighted to see his captain
secure a loan deal, telling seagulls.co.uk, “I think George is a fantastic player, it is so difficult to break into the Championship these days and George has been given an opportunity to play first team football.
“This will help him bridge the gap between development football and playing for a first team. He will now get closer to the type of pressure first players are under to win three points with a crowd on your back.”
Barker joined as a scholarship trainee in 2008 before signing a professional contract in 2010, and was named amongst the substitutes for Albion’s 5-1 win over Barnsley earlier this season.
