Albion Women take on Reading at Withdean this afternoon, kick-off 1.30pm...
Albion Women skipper Kerrie Ryan has called on the Brighton public to turn out in numbers ahead of today’s game against table-topping Reading at Withdean, kick-off 1.30pm.The Royals sit seven points clear of third-placed Albion at the top of the FA Premier League Southern Division table and Ryan admits it’s a must-win game if the side are to maintain their own promotion push.
The 22-year-old centre-back told seagulls.co.uk, “Reading are a strong team and we have to win the game, simple as that. We can’t afford to lose or even draw if we want to keep in touch with the top two and I’ve got an extra incentive to win as it’s against my former club!
“The team are playing well, we’re winning games, but we’ve got to step up to the plate against Reading if we want promotion ourselves.”
Albion Women go into the game in confident mood, following Sunday’s 3-2 Women’s Premier League Cup win against Gillingham, and Kerrie adds that home advantage can work to the team’s advantage against Reading.
“We’re getting more people coming to watch us all the time, which is really spurring the team on. The surface is excellent and so are the facilities and we’re hoping to get another big crowd backing us on Sunday. We want everyone making a noise to spur us on to three points.”
Albion season ticket holders and 1901 Club members can gain free entry to all women’s home fixtures throughout the season, simply show your pass on the gate. Otherwise, tickets are adults £3, Under-16s £1.
