Gus Poyet saw his side twice come from behind at Wolves this afternoon, but felt the team cost themselves two points...
The Albion boss said that his side are unlikely to have a better chance of winning a Championship game this season after Wolves skipper Karl Henry was sent off in the first half, but a lapse defensive display caused their downfall. He told seagulls.co.uk, “We are disappointed because as a group we let too many people down today. It was not a Brighton team on the pitch.
“We don’t play for 3-3, 4-4 or 5-5 scorelines. First we need to do the basics and build on that but we did not do the basics today.
“We didn’t use the extra player and we didn’t know how to take advantage to go ahead. We need the players to stand up at the end of the game and unfortunately we didn’t do it.
“It should have been very easy for us against ten players with the quantity of chances we had to go and win the game.
“The second half was one of the easiest we have had for a long time and I don’t think that we will have another one like this one, but we didn’t win it.
"Then when we worked so hard to get ahead we conceded right at the end, and almost conceded before that. It’s not good enough. There is nobody to blame but ourselves.”
Poyet opted to name Will Buckley amongst the substitutes this afternoon and he confirmed that the decision was to rest the Albion winger.
“There are too many players who have played a lot, and we have a very good squad of players, so we should not risk players. The last time we pushed Will to the limit he got injured. Instead, he came on during the second half when the game was perfect for him.”
Meanwhile, he confirmed that Wayne Bridge was substituted during the first half owing to a tight calf, and he will be assessed next week.
