Paul McShane says farewell to Albion's fans after defeat at Wolves in 2006
Albion fans might be grateful Kenny Miller went way out west this year.
The Scottish striker has just helped Vancouver Whitecaps reach the MLS play-offs, where they lost to LA Galaxy.
Miller, previously of Wolves, scored against the Seagulls on each of their last three visits to Molineux.
He netted in a pair of 1-1 draws, the first of which saw Bobby Zamora score a memorable goal for the visitors.
A penalty by Miller after Paul McShane’s unfortunate handball (Albion argued he was pushed) gave Wolves a 1-0 win last time the sides met.
That was in the penultimate match of the 2005-06 Championship season, when Mark McGhee’s Albion side had already been relegated and Glenn Hoddle’s Wolves had missed out on the play-offs.
It was McShane’s final game for the Seagulls as he completed a season on loan from Manchester United.
He said an emotional farewell to Albion fans after the final whistle.
Wolves consider the Seagulls to be one of their bogey sides although you probably have to be about 30 years old to remember the last time they won at Molineux.
That was in the 1990-91 season en route to the play-offs in what is now the Championship.
Robert Codner and Mark Barham were on target after Bryan Wade had made the breakthrough.
Wade’s goal came on his first start for the club.
It was in the next match that he famously scored four against Newcastle on his full home debut.
Albion lead the overall scores by 11 wins to three - or 11-5 if cup ties are included.
However they have gone four games without a win at Molineux.
