The American Express Community Stadium and Brighton & Hove Albion has beaten three Premier League teams, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland to win the prestigious Venue Team of the Year Award at the first-ever Football Business Awards held at Stamford Bridge last night.
Over 450 people from clubs and businesses connected with football were at the ceremony to hear the winners announced for each of the 16 fiercely contested categories.
When announcing the award for the Venue Team of the Year the judges said, “Crystal clear vision backed up with a plan and impressive results – this is a team delivering across all areas of the venue’s remit.”
Albion executive director Martin Perry said, “This award is an acknowledgement by experts in the football industry of the huge amount of planning, work and commitment from our operations team led by Richard Hebberd that led to the hugely successful first year at the Amex.
"During the year over 670,000 people attended matches, concerts or conventions, over 12,000 people went on stadium tours and 89,500 people attended the 1,600 other events that were held at the stadium.*
"The operations team is to be congratulated in the quality of the service it is providing and in doing its best to make the Amex experience as enjoyable as possible.”
