-Bombardier William J. Isaac, 57th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery
Tim Carder, chairman of Albion’s Collectors’ and Historians’ Society, conducted the research into the names told the club, “With the centenary of the First World War approaching, we felt it was time to remember the seven Albion men who lost their lives while serving their country.
“We should also remember that many supporters made the ultimate sacrifice, and this memorial stone does just that.
“They were brave, but they were also just ordinary people thrust into an extraordinary situation beyond their control and doing the best they could. Sadly, they paid the ultimate price. We must never forget what happened in those two wars, lest it should happen again.
“It has been a privilege to be involved with this project.”
The war memorial has been funded by the Albion Collectors’ and Historians’ Society and the Supporters’ Club in conjunction with Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.
All parties gratefully acknowledge the generosity of Tilleys Stonemasons Ltd.
