Gus Poyet said that his squad is better equipped this season to turnaround their current winless streak...
Albion have now gone seven games without a victory, mirroring a similar run to last season, but the Albion boss is confident that the elusive victory will arrive soon.He told seagulls.co.uk, “The difference is that when we went on a bad run last year we weren’t so much better than the opposition. Perhaps during one of the games we were but with all respect to the opposition we have been better than most of the teams who we have not beaten this time.
“We have created lots of chances but we have not been scoring. It’s difficult to understand. You can analyse down to the very last detail, but it’s the way that it is. Sometimes football is not fair.
“It hurts but we need to accept it and concentrate on the performance every game. If we perform well we are going to be winners. If we start worrying and change too many things we won’t perform. It has got to turn around.
“If we keep performing we need to start winning. If we do that then who knows where we can get to. We need a good run of results and that’s easier when you perform well.
“We are capable of four or five wins in a row, like we have done before, and if we do that I’m sure we will be back in the top six. We respect everyone but it’s up to us.”
The Albion boss sympathised with his opposite number, Darren Ferguson, ahead of tomorrow night’s game, but insisted that Peterborough United are not a team to be underestimated, despite sitting in the Championship relegation zone.
“Unfortunately they can’t keep hold of all their best players. They always seem to be restarting and that’s a problem for any manager.
“But they have an understanding of playing the game and they are always trying to score more goals than the opposition. That makes them a special team to play against and we need to be careful.
“We need to defend well but we need to go and attack them too. It’s a totally different game to what we have been playing recently.
“Like any other team in the Championship, they are a difficult team to beat and we need to concentrate on what we do well.”
