Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny denied Albion a win and Craig Mackail-Smith a hat-trick tonight.
The Seagulls led twice but had to settle for a 2-2 draw on a pulsating evening at The Amex.
Kenny dived to his right to keep out Mackail-Smith’s 74th-minute spot kick after the striker had been shoved over.
He also produced a super save in added time to push away Andrew Crofts’ shot.
Mackail-Smith fired Albion ahead from a 16th-minute penalty won by Will Buckley and also hit the post.
El-Hadji Diouf replied from the spot on 36 minutes after Bruno was controversially adjudged to have pushed Luke Varney.
Andrea Orlandi, guilty of an awful miss at 1-0, produced the clever pass from which Buckley set up Mackail-Smith to restore the lead three minutes after the break.
Leeds levelled on 66 minutes with a Michael Brown shot which seemed to deflect in off sub Luciano Becchio.
