Albion are seeking their first win at Blackpool for more than 12 years.
Goals from Paul Rogers and Gary Hart gave them a 2-0 verdict in the fourth tier in September, 2000 as Micky Adams’ men laid the foundations for title success.
Both teams won promotion.
Since then*Albion have recorded two draws and two 3-1 defeats at Bloomfield Road.
They have not won any of the last five matches between the seaside clubs home and away having gone unbeaten in the five previous meetings.
Albion have won three and drawn four of their 12 fixtures away to Blackpool down the years.
The Tangerines shade the overall series 9-8 with seven draws.
Joe Mattock put the Seagulls ahead at Bloomfield Road last season but Ian Evatt and Kevin Phillips (two) secured the hosts a pretty convincing 3-1 win.
Gonzalo Jara Reyes was sent-off for the visitors.
That was Albion’s first visit to the Fylde coast for five years.
The previous fixture ended in a scrappy, wind-strewn, thoroughly forgettable 0-0 draw in League One.
Simon Grayson’s side went on to win promotion via the play-offs.
In his Albion Nostalgia feature in The Argus today, Howard Griggs reflects on the two previous wins at Blackpool, when Teddy Maybank and Garry Nelson did the damage.
He also includes a classic squad photo from the 1970s.
