Charlie Oatway has asked the Albion players not to dwell on recent results ahead of Saturday’s clash against Blackpool...
The Albion first-team coach told seagulls.co.uk, “We can’t get too disheartened with where we are in the league. We are not a million miles away and if we get one win we’ll probably be back in the play-offs.“It’s frustrating because we feel like we are losing points but the boys are together, they don’t point fingers and they take it in their stride.
“When we play Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday we need them to mope about after the game but then to look ahead to the next game the following day, because the games come thick and fast. We can’t dwell on it for too long.
“That’s what we need to get into their heads and we’re getting ready to go again at Blackpool. Nothing changes. We must stick to our beliefs because we are playing the best football this club has seen throughout the 12 to 14 years that I have been here.
“We will keep plugging away because the goals will come. When they do come we need to keep doing the same at the back and we’ll start winning one or two nil.”
Former Albion skipper Oatway is expecting Saturday’s trip to Bloomfield Road to be a crowd-pleaser with both teams intent on playing an attacking passing game.
“It’s always an interesting match-up against Blackpool. They are a strong side and they are going to be competing around the top again this season. They are attacking and we have been good defensively, but we like to think that we are good at attacking too.
“It will be a good game that a lot of people would like to go and watch, but we’re just focused on what we are doing. Ian Holloway will have his team in good shape but so will we.
“Our manager is second to none outside of the Premier League in my opinion and it’s going to be like a chess game on Saturday, but there will be no stone unturned with regards to Blackpool. We’ll be going for the win again because we have a manager who doesn’t believe in going for a draw.
“He will have every player ready to walk over that white line and then we’ll see what happens.”
