What with the nutters on the right of the Tory party attacking their own leader, the fallout over lords reform and Clegg trying to shore up support for his party with popularist tax the rich proposals surely CMD, The Worst Chancellor in History and the rest of the chimps tea party will be on their way pretty soon.

....yes of course... back to that shower of shite that helped cause this economic and social mess, and who got us into an illegal war, and who eroded our ability to manage immigration properly... and who eroded the will of the nation in general for twelve years.

But at least they could make a DECISION.

Personally, I think they'll muddle through, then the Lib Dems will be wiped off most of the map next election, yet may still get to act as King Maker next time round even with a pitiful number of seats. CMD needs to grow a pair, ditch his crap chancellor and formulate a proper PLAN to get the economy moving again, and he might just win another term. And no illegal wars.

I agree, but there is essentially zero chance of this happening.

I'm no Osborne fan, but maybe he'd have a chance of improving if he actually treated being Chancellor as a full-time job, and stopped heading up cabinet policy as well...

THIS

Cameron is not beyond help. He just needs to stop selling a message that isnt backed up by a strategy. People criticise Labour for spin but they at least had a plan to spin on.

I just cant see Ed Miliband as PM. That is Cameron's saving grace in that Ed is unlikely to seal the deal with the electorate.

Argh!

Anyone who believes Labour specifically caused the economic issues really hasn't got a clue what they are talking about! You can just about get away with the other claims regarding Labour however.

Yes Labour were in power when it happened, yes they made shite decisions themselves, but so did the Tories before them, so have pretty much all other countries with neo liberal policies, which right wing thinking parties developed.

Osborne's problem is that he's trying to be Brown and Mandelson. You need a cabinet policy maker and you need a chancellor who helps ministries formulate plans. But you need checks and balances between the two roles

Indeed. And people conveniently forget that, with regard to the real cause of this mess - lax regulation of casino bankers in the city - the Tories spend the entire life of the last government arguing for LESS regulation.

Just as well we had Gordon 'Prudence' Brown with his hand on the tiller, guided by his infallible moral compass, on his one man mission to abolish Tory Boom and Bust, wasn't it?

Whatever your political leanings - and personally I'm with Voroshilov - I just fail to see how anyone in the LibDems, and especially Clegg, can look people in the face and claim the coalition is working.

It has been a systematic and very public dismantling of all their principles and credibility, and only the terminally desperate for power would be clinging on for dear life.

If Cameron and the conservatives wish to remain a legitimate party, Osborne must go. They have members of the cabinet with economic history, i.e. Ken Clarke & Vince Cable. Osborne is the thorn in their side, and persistently fails the party. People may complain about the cuts, and the Tories, but they have a mandate to govern and carry them out as it was included in their manifesto.

Osborne is their primary concern, although that may not be Cameron's. It's time for a reshuffle, and Osborne needs to go as he has repeatedly fail to stabilise our finances and produce growth. Forecasts are continuously downgraded, we're far too behind many. The U.S. is beginning to see an increase in GDP, employment and the deficit reduction plan has been put on stand-by to ensure growth comes first, with growth and stability, then you can gauge the level of cuts required that won't effect the economy.

Even bloody Boris has called for public finances to be used to improve roads etc. Jobs should come first, once people are spending their money again, every other sector will begin to see an increase in revenues.

Cut VAT down to 15%, and give more tax relief to SMEs and possibly tax holidays for certain tax bands to gauge the willingness to spend disposable income.

Also to note, the conservatives backed Brown/Darling's financial crisis handling policies. The conservatives should remember this, but refuse to acknowledge that THEY too were in favour of the policies implemented between 2007-10 by labour.

They didnt back the bank bailout as they feared nationalisation. But also didnt propose an alternative.

Their transport policy is looking good

We are looking a total joke to the rest of the world at the moment. No coherent plans, policies in tatters, a clueless chancellor dwelling and u-turning on crazy ideas like pasty-tax and a pathetic Cameron begging the EU to hurry up as their pace is affecting our economy. As I have said before, I think they will operate at a pace which suits them....surprise surprise. What has the UK got to do with them now Cameron pulled out of the inner-meetings. Clueless, totally f***ing clueless government and a government which is failing on its own merits: borrowing up and benefit payments up and no growth.

Key word from my post ....'helped'.... of course they didn't cause it, but their economic policies sure as hell didn't make things any better....
