Contract offered to Jeremy Balmy... From the Argus.

How has he looked in the pre-season games?

Looks a good prospect.

I can only go on 15 minutes of video of the Dover game with other youngsters who had never played together before where I thought he looked like a player who knew how to pass and where he wanted to pass it to and had good positional sense. Today seems to indicate he has a sweet left foot. Given his background he seems likely to be one worth trying and he could be very good.

I'm mindful that most 16 year old talents don't progress to 18 year old prospects and most 18 year old prospects don't realise their potential to any great degree but from the little we have seen and know I would risk a two or three year contract and rate it a reasonable punt that he could be at least a Championship standard player in that timespan.

Others on here have seen the same video and rated the lad as useless (in so many words).

He does have a flair haircut

Is he the guy that scored today? Cracking finish and thought he probably looked the best of the midfielders in the second half... seemed to have a good knack of getting forward to support the strikers. Lightweight but then he's only young.

Admittedly only on the strength of 45 minutes against non-league opposition, he looked good to me today. Comfotable on the ball, a little bit of vision, can thread a good pass, decent shot. Not sure whether he's going to be physical enough to mix it in the championship.

I was really impressed by him when he came on today. Had seemed to have really good vision with his passing & looked (from first impression anyway) the complete midfielder. From what I saw today, worth taking a punt on.

Does anyone not think that its a little odd to have had Spurs, Arsenal, Valencia and AC Milan on his trail just 6 months ago and now he might make it into our development squad?

Gus can be very persuasive  and also who wants to play at White Hart Lane, The Emirates, The Mestalla or The San Siro, when you can be working your trades at the AMEX?

I was at the game today and agree with all the above.

Naturally you'd expect this from a trialist - but I'd add that he looked very very lively, certainly as though he was trying to impress, so perhaps that bodes well for him being keen as mustard to sign, should Gus want him.
