Oldham remain quietly confident that potential investors will be installed "in the next couple of days".

The Latics are facing a battle for survival ahead of the new season such are their financial problems.

Manager Iain Dowie has criticised the management as he prepares to lose some of his players but club spokesman Sean Jarvis defended their policy.

Speaking on BBC GMR, the marketing manager said: "Without the chairman, without the chief executive, I find myself in a position where I have to look at some sort of safety net or a plan to try and get ourselves out of this situation.

"There are no white knights coming over the horizon to save us. There is no self-interest.

"The missing piece of the jigsaw is arguably the potential investors that can help us deliver the plan and take us through it.

"We believe that in the next couple of days that might be the case."
