Some film scores just grab your heart and rip it out. This is one of the finest, neigh possibly finest pieces of music ever written. It perfectly encapsulates the horrors of war and going " to the line " Listen and be swept away with it.

I love film scores and generally hold some of them to be works of art comparable to the great classical composers.

Any other recommendations for some thought provoking and moving scores.

The best soundtrack ever imho

Morricone's score was actually written before filming started and was played whilst the scenes were acted out - see Fonda and Bronson's gunfight which is all done to the sound of the score.

Here's some great soundtracks:

Hope Floats
Phenomenon
Brokeback Mountain
O Brother where Art Thou

They may not be your types of films, but these are great soundtracks.

This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. Heartbreaking. The simplicity of the piano at the start and then the full blown strings. It is IMMENSE. John Barry has never been better and that is saying something. The film is average but it is the moment when Harrelson realises the f*ck up he has made letting Moore go off with Redford as he loved his Woman. It get's me everytime.
