Z list celebs

I was strolling through town at lunchtime and saw that Alina Jenkins the weather lady off South Today. Just got me thinking, which only just famous people have fellow NSCers seen wadering about.

Rules are that they are not famous enough to be of interest to a national paper!

I saw James Bolam and his actress wife Susan Jameson, in the Carfax Horsham, browsing the market stalls on Saturday afternoon.

Used to see Gavin Hastings (Scottish international rugby player) quite often near the office where I worked in Edinburgh, I considered him to be a Z list celeb, some of the locals held him in much higher esteem.

Saw Steve Claridge the other week.

Unsurprisingly it was in my local Ladbrokes.

Sat opposite Arthur Scargill on a Thameslink train once. I recognised him right away, though sadly it was after he had lost that shredded wheat he used to have perched on his head (I would have been fascinated by that for the whole journey to Brighton - how did it stay there?). I would have liked to talk to him about the miners strike and his Socialist Labour Party but despite my best attempts to catch his eye he was completely oblivious to his surrounding passengers. He was probably trying to keep a low profile....

Scene: It is a small shop, slightly chaotic, bookshelves everywhere, with little secret bits round corners with even more books.
Martin, William's sole employee, is waiting enthusiastically.
He is very keen, an uncrushable optimist. Perhaps without cause. A few seconds later, William stands gloomily behind the desk...

MARTIN: Would be exciting if someone famous did come into the shop though, wouldn't it? Do you know -- this is pretty incredible actually -- I once saw Ringo Starr. Or at least I think it was Ringo. It might have been that broke from 'Fiddler On The Roof,' Toppy.

WILLIAM: Topol.

MARTIN: That's right -- Topol.

WILLIAM: But Ringo Starr doesn't look anything like Topol.

MARTIN: No, well... he was quite a long way away.

WILLIAM: So it could have been neither of them?

MARTIN: I suppose so.

WILLIAM: Right. It's not a classic anecdotes, is it?

MARTIN: Not classic, no.

:lolol:

Spoke to Henry Kelly outside the Grand Hotel about the quiz show he was presenting. (Euro something??)

Adam Chance (he of the wobbly set show) in the Colonnade Bar.

But I did get to speak to Tony Dorset ( a running back for the Dallas Cowboys) in a Brit-run bar in Dallas.

I see Steve Punt - of The Mary Whitehouse Experience - lives at the end of my road. I see him all the time and we're on nodding terms now...

My lad and his mate went trick-or-treating last year (yes I know, I hate it as well) and knocked on a door in Brighton to be answered by the bloke who presents Blues Clues. For those without younger children Blues Clues is a kids programme (pre-school) whereby a blue dog called er, Blue, looks for er, clues to guess a specific object. The presenter is overlaid over very simple animation. Kevin (I think is his name) is a kind of Craig Charles lookalike scouser type, but actually quite pleasant. He was very good natured and gave them loads of sweets.

There goes another 45 seconds of your life.
