Anyone know where I can find live coverage of the Tour of Haut Var this weekend? Its not on ES1 or 2 as far as I can see, or even a couple of streaming sites I know of. Would like to watch it if possible as thats the area I spent all my summers as a kid, & have fond memories of the place.

An aero bike with disc brakes.

Is that an oxymoron I wonder?

Hydraulic disc brakes are awesome, they'd be on every bike if they weren't a danger in a peloton crash. Cable disc brakes are a bit meh and I much prefer traditional calipers. I have all 3 on different bikes. I would say cable disc breaks are actually closer to rim breaking than they are hydraulic brakes which are out on their own.

I'm sure you're absolutely correct, but what's any of that got to do with aero?

I can't see how disc brakes, in whatever form, can be very aero compared to rim brakes.

I've got hydraulic disc brakes on my mountain bike. Can still throw me over the handlebars in the wet and caked in mud.

As I found out recently after I bottled out hitting a massive mud puddle at full chat. If I hadn't had bottled it I probably would have made it. Instead of landing in it face first. With 10 miles to go on the return journey. Much to my mates delight.

I suspect that the least aerodynamic bit of my new bike will be me sat on top of it, rather than the disc brake mounts.

I briefly tried the bike out last night and was surprised that the brakes didn’t feel sharp at all, they were actually worse than my rim brakes in the wet. But after some research on line, I think that this is due to the ‘burn-in’ period and essentially I need to use them a bit to rough the pads and discs up before they become fully effective.

Lights. Again.

After all these years, I reckon my front light shenanigans are over. It may not look pretty but the combo of my 'be seen' Aldi and the super over secured 747 landing light (or Chinese torches) 'see' are now in harmony.

Fukken back lights taking over the FML mantle. Both have developed a 'on and off when we decide, not you, you kunnt' life of their own. Cateye can do one (again), but I'll stick with the annoying (what the fukk battery is that and specialist tool to swap them required) Hun one as back up. In the post is a Knob Blinder Mob The Face. Such a stupid name can only guarantee reliability.

The landing lights are so good, I'm contemplating an all nighter at the summer solstice.

Then Dunwich Dynamo is the ride for you 👍
I'm hoping to try it for the first time this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it has something to do with the air travel around the wheels, not just air flow, by the vortexs the wheels themselves create. With disc brakes toward the centre of the axle and away from the rims, my understanding is that you can achieve less drag. Although that could be complete BS. :)

Before you 2 get too involved in this just remember, as Bedsex says 'aerodynamics are for the likes of us'.

Riding is becoming far too complicated.

Bravo Sir! Not a single mention of 'gravel' or 'fatter tyres' anywhere.

You're good... Very good :clap2:

I ain't half been riding my luck with the roller damaged rear tyre. This morning it ran out. Nothing in the tyre at all but the puncture site matched the damaged area. 28 now on.

I don't know why I bother repairing tubes. More often than not it all ends up in the bin.

I went for my first ride on the Orro Venturi today and it rode as well as it looked. It was a lot stiffer and more responsive than my Planet X and despite a slightly more aggressive set up due it having an aero frame, it didn’t feel any less comfortable over the 50 miles I did today.

The Di2 shifting is something else, so quick and so smooth.

The bike definitely feels quicker than my previous one, unfortunately I don’t really do it justice.

Anyone ridden a Specialized with Future Shock? Looks like a good idea for Christchurch roads, but wondering if there's any noticeable performance loss.
Pogue Mahone is your man for that.
He's a Spech fan-boy.
