I am doing some research for a project I am starting this year. I would be most grateful if you could tell me which your consider to be Spielberg's finest work.

With War Horse starting on Friday The list above compile's every single film he directed.

Thanks for your input.

For the fact that they introduced new techniques and capabilities to film in general I would say:-

1) Close Encounters of the Third Kind
2) Jurassic Park
3) Saving Private Ryan

The Film that I have enjoyed the most:-

Indiana Jones - The Raiders of the Lost Ark

Would you include blues brothers as one of his? If so, that one.

I would say Jaws is my favourite of his as a director, closely followed by jurassic park. I haven't really enjoyed a new movie of his since minority report, and even that was an average enjoyment. Since it was highlighted that a recurring theme of his was daddy issues I started to notice it more and it started to annoy me more. I can honestly say the trailer for war horse does nothing for me.

This for me, opening 20 minutes unbelievable tekkers from Mr Speilberg

I think the first 25 minutes is the best filmmaking and direction he has ever produced and one of the greatest sequences in cinema history.
