Will Liverpool win the Premiership next season with Simone Pongolle, Harry Kewell etc. the bookies only rate them at 7-1.

This is the same odds that Albion are on to win Division 2 outright.

Is Dietmar Hammann staying?

Will Michael Owen make the first team?

Where is the height and physical presence in midfield? A shortcoming they share with the Albion.

Florent Pongolle and Milan Baros could be the attack?

I don't think 7-1 Liverpool will be relegated so the 7-1 odds for the Albion bade well.

Will Liverpool make a surprise bid for Bobby Zamaro?

no, 2002/3 was Liverpool's chance

they'd been building up to it(2000/1 3 trophies, 2001/2 second place) and they were top of the pile by 7 points at the start of november i believe but they collapsed, it should have been them taking the title off arsenal, not man utd.

I agree with Trigger, its the toon's year. it will be a perfect way for Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer to sign out, and Martin Tyler could say, you just couldnt write this script

Newcastle will need to be at least three, probably four points ahead of Liverpool before the last game.

Liverpool have not got a Patrick Vieira calibre player in midfield, or a Graeme Souness from a long time ago.

It looks like to me Liverpool will fall short of the mark to me.

Florent Sinama Pongolle and Antony le Tallec are apparently the 2 most exciting and talented upcoming French players around. It will be interesting to see if they can wrestle the places away from Heskey (should be a bit of piss) and Baros (not so easy). Owen's place in the squad is untouchable.
Kewell's supposed aquisition will be a big plus for the squad. If they can hold together a challenge and not crumble like last season they will be right up there.
Chelsea might be the dark horses next season IMO.

Bollocks will they.
Kewell always follows up a good season with a bad one.
They should be much improved though from last year.
With Diouf in the side they will never win the league.

7-1 is a good price considering:

Man Utd are without Beckham and there are question marks over Keane's fitness, the keeper position etc

Arsenal's hands are tied financially and they are not looking to spend big now

It may take a year or so for Abramovich's millions to build a team cohesive enough to challenge.

So, Liverpool could contend if Gerrard stays fit, if Kewell maintains his electric form, if Kirkland turns out to be as good as his promise and if Finnan steps up a level.

Never overlook the Scousers total lack of bottle and new-found inferiority complex. They've got no chance. Newcastle and (spit) Chelsea would be my outsiders. I've got a horrible feeling about Chelsea. It's not like they are starting from scratch, already had some good players.
