When I purchased a book of Bus passes at the Albion shop they did not inform me that I did not need them as I could use my Senior Citizen Bus card.

They checked my fan No. and must have known of my age and the possibility of me having a pass

Am I £30 quid down or can I get a refund.

Yes, a refund will be fine - but they may have thought you were going to use them on the train. In future I will suggest the ticket office and customer service guys check.
