And 23 from 30 for the whole season is simply amazing!

Come on Gus, bring us all back a present from your hols!

23 from 29 games in total..... on that ratio he'd be the clubs top scorer over 46 games + cup

I really hope the rumours are true and we sign this guy. He looks like he could be a real gem, but more importantly we need a good flair South American to make up for the likes of Baz, Battipiedi, Turienzo...

They do that in Argentina as well, it's weird.

Football in Uruguay is mental, the Montevideo derby between Nacional and the other main team (cant remember what they're called) had to be played behind closed doors for a while. I think they might have even played it in Spain once because it got so bad. Amazing really for a country that is so relaxed and chilled out in every other way.

Clips of South American football are brilliant, all you see is people running backwards and forwards on the terraces with the giant plastic screens to keep them running of the pitch. Mental.

In terms of Mr Garcia, I know nothing about him but his strike rate looks good and he would considerably raise our flair stakes so I say sign him up. Question is, has he got/can he get a European passport?

On paper (and on Youtube) he looks fantastic, but of course we've had Turienzo-shaped issues with such things before.

I have a sneaking suspicion though that this one might have something to it.

My mate is his agent and told me that he will be on around £14k a week at Brighton. And a free tank of petrol. He is going to be sponsored by the Skoda garage in Goring by Sea and will get a free car from them.

Yeah it is mental. The strangest thing about it is their constant abuse of the referee, regardless of his performance. I went to a game in Equador, there must have been about 3,000 people there, and the home team won 4-0. The ref gave them an extremely dubious penalty and disallowed a perfectly good goal for the away team. Yet at the end of the game he was escorted off the pitch by about 10 riot police, while the entire home crowd booed, shouted abuse , and threw anything they could get their hands on at him. Bizarre. Quite funny though. I joined in.

To be fair to Garcia, turienzo did not have a domestic record like that at only 20 years ago or the general buzz around him. I'm genuinely excited about this one (although I have got a bit carried away about flair-sounding signings before - exhibit a in my username...!)

Fair point, although your user name is actually spelt wrong (it was Molango, not Molongo). :p

This rumour comes once again from the Football Rumours web site. It is one of the greatest works of fiction since The Brothers Grimm. The only thing that makes this deal in anyway plausible is the fact that the guy is Uruguayan and we have a well known ex Uruguayan international for a manager. Two and two could make five but Gus has been hunting in South America before and apart from the fact he's currently in Uruguay right now we, as a Championship club with a decent ground have a lot more to offer than we did twelve months ago. I remember years ago when Sheffield United signed a then unknown Alex Sabella. He went on to play for Leeds in the old First Division and was a superb player. As far as Garcia is concerned whilst I'll believe it when I see it I would also say that unlike Owen it's a reasonable possibility.

Todays Argus says about Gus coming back to England 'empty handed' and whilst he had a look at players over there he hasnt signed anyone. Probably didnt want to sign anymore shyte like Battipiedi and Baz.

Puts this story to be i suppose......................

On June 18, 2011 García joined Brazilian Clube Atlético Paranaense for €2 million, signing a five-year contract

On his wiki page, wonder if Gus was intrested but was put of by the price tag.
