Got the flights, now the accommodation.

Any recommendations for a couple in their mid 40s, preferably near the beach?

As mentioned before I would recommend Palombaggia and St Giulia beaches (they are beautiful - the best I've seen in Europe) so anywhere on the south side of Porto Vecchio or North of Bonifacio would do if you have a car.

A few years back ... six of us just turned up off the ferry at Calvi and had no trouble finding a convenient (and modestly priced) hotel within walking distance of everything.

Provided you're prepared to ignore the complaints of Americans about Corsica not being the USA, here's a place to start looking ...
