Hang on, isn't that depiction from the Karma Sutra?

What happens post race in Hastings stays in Hastings.

I'm not quite sure what to do for the best as regards Brighton Marathon prep. I completed a 20 miler a week ago but owing to grim shifts I've only managed a half marathon this week for my distance work (still managing a run every other day mixing up intervals and shorter speed work). The only day that will accommodate a long run this coming week will be Friday - 15 days before the big day. I was thinking about one more 20 miler but is that too much too close to the big day? I'm not a fast guy. 5 hours will do me but it's more about the confidence of being able to finish comfortably.

Anybody running the Colchester Half tomorrow? If so, best of luck and I shall be lying in wait at the finish line with my camera.

Hold on - if penny's harmonica and big nuts are both on 49 and are planning on running their milestones next week, I'm on 99. Hatty of NSC parkrun milestones?! :albion2:

20 minutes warm up. 50 minutes tempo run and then 20 minutes warm down for me this morning. Ran almost perfectly at 8 minutes per mile for the first 20 minutes, and then an 6:50 per mile for 50 minutes and another almost perfect 8 minutes per mile final 20 minutes. Very pleased with the performance, I didn't find the 6:50 per mile pace to be comfortable but I was able to sustain it. All ready for tomorrow's 17 miler now, including the Hastings Half Marathon!

That I am.

Phew. Badger would have been back onto me otherwise.:lol:

Age-graded scoring is based on how fast you run (by correcting it to what your speed would have been at your prime age) and a percentage value of the world record for your gender. Performance standards listed on the USATF site give approximate comparative levels: 90 percent = world class; 80 percent = national class; 70 percent = regional class; and 60 percent = local class.

Another 20 in the bank today around the Thames.

I think I’m gonna back out the sub 4 hour dream now, these last 2 long runs have been at 9:27 pace, and I feel like 30 seconds is a lot to lose. Even today last few miles I was slowing down a bit. Would rather not blow up at 17 miles in when marathon day comes around.

Did a 15 and 17 on Feb and these 3 long ones in March but have felt this month treading water a bit in terms of any improvement time wise. Miles in the bank can only be a good thing though I guess!

Barcodes at the Prom for me tomorrow before a gentle few miles with 200m strides thrown in.
Really fired up for Sunday at Hastings. Weather looks great for running. Hoping to finish the better side of 1:40:00 but not sure if my deliberate strategy of no major hill training for 3 weeks prior will bear fruit.
See all runners by the marquee Sunday morning?? In particular looking forward to starting with Simgull and penny's harmonica to make a race of it.

Nice feature on Hastings on South Today this evening. Several people have run all 35 editions of the race. They are expecting 80,000 spectators to cheer us along the route.

I’m also on 49 and will also make it 50 next week, venue tbc. See you Sunday in Hastings.

Good luck to you all, I'll be cheering on at the bottom of the Queensway

Above the neck run, below the neck take extra car, cold almost gone run. Never do more than a jog if feeling worn out.
