Hope you've turned the corner. Still remember having a chat while were watching the nutters do that multi-storey car park marathon in Worthing!

Yes remember it well. Yeah the corner or coming down the mountain will be after surgery in Birmingham hopefully before Christmas and once my tumour is removed and prosthetic is implanted.. then it’ll be all about rehab again. Double rehab! can’t do things by half! But I have my goals (slightly different to the goals at the beginning of the year, like most of us) and challenges.. they just don’t involve chaffing, hiding in the bushes for a shite, getting up at 5am!

I remember marshalling at Worthing park run a few times and you always looked strong, ahead of all the other goats .. you still running them?

Cheers. Yes but slower (65 now). Missing the park runs. Looking forward to hearing when you are back and running those ridiculous distances (in ridiculous times if I recall).

All our respects to our only 145 mile finisher. Worth compiling a special one off table and and he'll need to be tough for what's ahead. Good luck, Stu. I remember the race report when you lay down for a 10" kip on top of stinging nettles and had to jump up and get on with it.

Haha I laid down for a ten min kip on the Sunday morning, as the relentless moving begun to make me fill sick.. realised I was on top of a stinging ant nest! I thought that was a sign not to rest again keep going.. I think the morning temp was something like 18c and just got hotter and hotter on the Sunday and no wind unlike the Saturday I think. I think I was 61st out of about 130ish starters..

My plans for this year was to do the Bristol London race but oh well, with the right amount of support races, but the problem stopped that before Christmas....Would recommend any Canal race to anyone.. as long as you have a sense of humour and don’t mind toughing it out. Still think I should of done better.

Yeah the specialists have said not to run again. But hey ho. I’m crap at swimming.. so it’s cycling for me now on... i might get the odd cheeky treadmill run in, you never know shhhh on that one!

Anyone tackle Beachy and/or SDW50 at the weekend? Just a flat 10 for me, with a bit of mud along the way, to knock me over 1,300 miles for the year. I've never made a note of every year's mileage, but I'm pretty sure 2020 will be a PB for me with 1,500 (my revised target) now well within reach

My friend was telling me that Beachy Head Marathon went ahead this weekend. I guess these are the only types of races that are going to be happening for the foreseeable future. It looks like such a challenging course, so huge kudos to anyone who did it.

Meanwhile, I've been doing virtual races. The Toronto Waterfront Marathon let you sign up for 5k, 10k, HM, M or any combination of them. I decided to sign up for the 10k and half marathon.

I did the half marathon last weekend and it ended up being a lot of fun. One of my friends does a half every Saturday morning and another guy has been training to do the full marathon, so we decided to head out together. It was so nice to run with people and not really care about pace. We took some trails I haven't been on before and enjoyed seeing all the autumn colours. In the end I stopped my watch at 1:53, a full 30 minutes slower than my PB but I couldn't care less.

I did the 10k yesterday, which was a different story. Most of my runs are 10k, so I had to make it interesting. I decided to give myself a speed test and see if I could still keep up a good race pace on a solo run. My goal was to get a sub-40 and things turned out even better than I was expecting. I managed to push a consistent pace the whole way and finished in 39:10, my third fastest 10k time.

I do really miss big race days though.

Cracking 10k time [emoji122][emoji122]

Didn't do Beachy at the weekend but know plenty that did - seems to have been v well organised with start waves etc. I've done it half a dozen times, it's a fantastic event [emoji16] The SDW 50 went ahead on Sunday too - again staggered starts so no drama really. Winner finished in 6.15 [emoji15][emoji15]

Fantastic 10k time! Virtual races have grown on me a little bit, but they don't really feel like actual races – just runs. More and more events seem to be coming back in one shape or form over here – albeit with restricted fields. I understand why Brighton got cancelled and put back to later in 2021 – fingers crossed the world will be getting on to back to normal by then.

I was put off doing Beachy by the restrictions/changes put in place. Just a personal preference – it seemed to go swimmingly and everyone I know who took part had a great time – I just didn't fancy taking part in a race that seemed so 'different' from how I've run it before. It's a great event though. It's up there with one of my favourite races, along with The Moyleman, which is similar but – in my opinion – slightly more challenging and less 'pretty'. The fact that you finish the the Harveys Brewery with pizza and a pint also swings Moyleman in my favour :drink:

Just spotted this morning that according to Strava I've spent 340 hours so far this year running. I've never really noticed before so was a bit surprised as that seems a ridiculous amount of time. I should get out more...

Just the 192 hours for me over 219 runs. With 65 days of the year left to go, there's plenty of time to get that average up to above one hour a run :lolol:

It’s the 300th day of the year today and by pure coincidence I hit 1650 miles this morning which works out exactly 5.5 miles per day.

If I continue that, I hit just over 2000, but not enough for 2020 which would be good to reach.

I did the Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday. Really really well organised, with the a big holding pen at St Andrews prep school fields, where you stood on little disks to maintain social distancing before being led to the start line in groups of about 20 people. You had to wear masks until you left the holding pens. They had a big screen up to show runners setting off and constantly given updates by the marshalls.

Only 3 pit stops this year so as advised carried my own water and food, but the stops had mini mars bars, bananas water and sausage rolls (from meat to veg to vegan). It was all spread out on tables and you had to help yourself.

A great tough run as ever, a couple of course alterations due to the wet conditions and also the 40mph wins on the seven sisters, so routed away from the edge to get into Birling Gap. All the runners acted responsibly and in the couple of areas of no overtaking, people didn't. At the finish line again you collected your own medal and food including pasties.

Overall a really enjoyable event and again amazingly supportive runners and brilliantly marshalled with them dotted around the whole course supporting people. It was again great to be back running in an event.

I finished in 5.44 which was a massive improvement on last years 6.35 so really pleased with that. It was great to meet my sister after and a hot soak in the bath was so badly needed. I was then fed and watered before they dropped me back at Eastbourne station.

My next two events are the South Downs off road half from Goodwood (7/11) and then the South Downs trail run (10 miles) from Plumton (5/12). As both out of town hopeful they will go ahead. It will then be time to put up the feet for a while.

During Saturday clicked over 1,500 miles for the year, certainly not something I expected to do!

Happy running all.

238 hours, 1,690 miles and 92,936 feet of ciimbing here.

My two goals of 2,020 miles and 100,000 feet are foregone conclusions now unless something strange happens. My dodgy knee played up a bit last week but I was able to run through it, including a quite zippy 10 miles, by my standards, on Sunday. Unfortunately I was pushed for time otherwise I'd have rounded up to a 13.1 where I'm sure I'd have shaved something off my PB.

Congrats [MENTION=474]Mr Blobby[/MENTION] it looks like you had a lot of fun.

I've been slacking this year since I stopped training:
Runs: 166
Time: 138h 18m
Distance: 1,811km
Elevation Gain: 13,631m

I just got an email saying next year's Boston Marathon is getting pushed back to the autumn, although they haven't set a date yet. It's going to be one busy autumn of races (assuming they're allowed to go ahead).

Some heavy mileage from you lot this year. Good work.
First run in 4 months yesterday. Half way to Hove station and I realised I'd left my phone at home with the Senior Railcard on it. Quick sprint home and to the station with an easy 5" to spare. Then an hour on the train sweating behind the mask.

This is the winner of the Women’s Beachy Head 10k this weekend.
Anyone ever woken up next to anything worse?
