Picked up the lurgy. Been surrounded by sick zombies all week. Thought I’d avoided it. Bexhill XC tomorrow is looking less than 50% chance. Was looking forward to that.

Has been a week of PB's for me.

5k - 23:41 (29/01)
10k - 52:18 (05/02)

1k - 4:24 (29/01)
1 mile - 7:14 (29/01)

Considering a year or two ago it was taking well over half hr to run 5k (if that), I'm really proud of my progress. Now to start upping my distance.

Fantastic effort. Keep on going – the distance will naturally increase as you improve fitness, strengthen muscles and increase stamina

Cheers. I may go and do it anyway. Can't do any worse than last home........

Few of my club pals do this - standard is pretty high, but one of them is often v close to the back. You can chat to him..........

Just seen someone has got a ballot place for the Royal Parks Half marathon.........£59 plus £3.95 for postage of the race pack for a crowded course. No thanks ! Just paid half that for a 6 hour race with over 100 fully-stocked aid stations.

100 aid stations in 6 hours!!!

Is it a running event or eating event?

First thought: bloody hell the entry standards look amazing.
Second thought: if the overtaken runner moves right (into lanes 2 or 3) just how far will they (the slower guys) actually run after doing the requisite number of laps?

Think Greg Bobkin might have been looking at the other Centurion link (piece of string race).......

Good question. It was interesting doing the Amex Marathon a few weeks ago with the elite runner that was in the field - he was very clearly and obviously taking the 'racing line' on the inside all the time, to the extent he was calling ahead to people to move out - I hadn't thought about it previously but obviously the decent runners know what difference it makes on lapped events. Just an extra 10 yards every lap in a 24 hour track ultra for an elite ultrarunner would cost them over 6km if my calcs are correct (ie they'll have run 6km further than the results given them credit for)
