"What is it really like being a professional footballer? Here are 54 photos showing a typical day in the life of Peter O'Sullivan, the Brighton mid-field player. You will see that a footballer's life is more varied, and hard-working, than most people realise..."

A day in the life of Peter O'Sullivan

After doing a bit every day, I've finally scanned all the photos from this children's book, 'A day with a footballer' from 1979. It will take a few secs to load so bear with it. See what Peter O'Sullivan, the family man, community worker and popular member of the team, gets up to...

My all time favourite player who came to us for nothing from Man Utd and gave us years of good service. I wonder what he is doing now and does he follow the Albion does anybody know?

Yes indeed, great stuff :)

Credits at the back mention St Peters, Cowfold - so I guess its that.

Important things to remember if you want to be a pro footballer:

1/ Wear a tie when you go to see the physio
2/ Have All Bran for breakfast
3/ Have a nice cup of tea at half time

Glad you enjoyed it! This book was my first introduction to Brighton & Hove Albion when I borrowed it in about 1986 from Brighton Library. Great to find it on Amazon after all these years...

Yes, the school is St Peter's School in Cowfold. I've found out that the journalist is Neil Coppendale of Radio Brighton, the training is at Hove Park, and the match is against Leicester. A bit of dramatic license is used because while the score at the Goldstone was 3-1, Sully didn't get the final goal! Peter Ward did.

Proper football. Proper footballers. Training in Hove Park. I am in the book, page 38, little dot in the West stand behind the Directors box, to the left of the entrance stairs. :lolol:
