Making my way through the Slough House books by Mick Herron.
Basically, they are modern spy stories but with a dry, sardonic twist to them. I’m on the fourth now, Spook Street, having read the first 3. I’m really enjoying them.

Tried to read that so many times, but have never got beyond about 5 pages in before binning it off. I’m giving - - - (the second book in the series) a go now, hoping for greater things.

That was on my deleted post ... do you mean Thirteen? I'd have it as one of my best books this year (not that I read '000's but a couple a month for sure)

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Makes complete sense. I understand and agree with what he is saying, I just don't have the intellect to have put it the way he does.

Just purchased off EBay a hour ago...without reading this thread.
Wanted a book similar to the Peter James Roy Grace series.

Me too! Had it recommended and I really enjoy the Roy Grace series, partly due to knowing the locations well, so not having to construct a fictitious town in my head taking me out of the story.

I've only got a few chapters in to the book at the moment but intriguing...

I'm finally reading Rick Stein's memoir, which is alright even if he totally glosses over nearly killing his wife (to be at the time) in a drink driving incident.
