50- 60 years ago we were actively inviting people here from Commonwealth countries, there's arguments both ways with valid reasons depending on which date you put on the standpoint.
The Commonwealth is nothing to do with the EU its a British thing.

that may be the case last year, its been a shifting tide for 50 years, a tide that's turned. its a very complex issue. certainly marriage for passports has been a thing in recent years. .and different countries have different criteria.
