Champions League. But rather artificial to think that any team will win all 26 games against non top 6 while losing all 12 against them. The point is really a simple one: the widening disparity of the top teams against the bottom makes the bottom teams look more crap than they might have done...
It's not binary - one is function of the other. The bottom teams appear more crap because the top 5.5 (let's include 0.5 Man U for the moment) beat them nearly all the time; leaves 26 fixtures to get points from.
And relegated teams had no more than 16 points at this stage:
