The point is really a simple one: the widening disparity of the top teams against the bottom makes the bottom teams look more crap than they might have done...

    It's not binary - one is function of the other. The bottom teams appear more crap because the top 5.5 (let's include 0.5 Man U for the moment) beat them nearly all the time; leaves 26 fixtures to get points from.
