Nah. Not at all. I’m on record as a huge fan of both Connolly and Maupay, but injuries, suspensions will happen. And having a 3rd striker as a different option is just prudent.

£25m is a totally fair price IMO. Good resale value, good age. For comparison we paid £20m for Webster. I’m gutted we’re not getting Brewster. Had a really good feeling about him joining.

Exactly. We are too down on ourselves, we have a lot to offer a young player and now have a little connection with Pool as well as Klopp being full of praise for our club and GP.

I’m not sure any of that is relevant to a young player tbh. It’s all ancient history as you say. I don’t see much of a gap between us and Sheff Utd. Yes they finished higher last season, but that’s one season. They finished higher then Everton too.

Fair comment.. I think we are going to be turning the tide of public perception but it’ll take a while. Whilst Hughton did a great job keeping us up, it’s unquestionably left a mark on our brand. Many neutrals still think we play that way.

I agree with you, seems odd that we wouldn’t have a better chance then Sheff Utd of landing Brewster. And how can they have a better wage then us? Optimistic view, we have other, better targets incoming. Pessimistic: we’re still an unfashionable club. Our progress hasn’t been fully recognised...

I’ve heard from some Liverpool fans that if Klopp wants to loan him out it means he doesn’t rate him. Hence why they’re open to a sale, but they have to play the game a bit.

He’s basically an older, slower version of Maupay. It’s possible, I wouldn’t rule us out going for him, and I trust the club regardless, but it would be a surprising move that doesn’t fit our business model (very different case from Lallana. Serial winner, elite level, good with youngsters etc).
