Not living in BN1shire and working weekends - didn't see the point as I couldn't get to many games anyway. Ultimately my position in this, and my history of support is irrelevent.
My opposition to the scheme isn't because I haven't joined. I think the club is misguided as to why people go to...
The 'audit trail' doesn't work if you allow people to buy tickets for 'friends and family'. Anyway, how does it work any better than online payment does? People pay with their card and tickets are sent to the billing address. The club KNOWS who has paid for which tickets already. And since when...
I don't feel BHA have done a 'great job'. All STH could have had tickets without splitting everyone else into blue/white/junior/non-member. The club knows who they are. It isn't an issue with priority - I simply don't think it's right to charge people for a potential spot in a queue with no...
No. Aston Villa are willing to sell tickets at face value, not via a "pay twice and you might not go" scheme. How the gate receipts are split is irrelevent. Obviously Ticketmaster will take their cut too, but that was going to happen anyway.
Very slowly now...
If the scheme (as his Lordship says) was to stop Season Ticket Holders from missing out on tickets, then how can ANYONE who is NOT a season ticket holder able to join the scheme? The club KNOW who the Season Ticket Holders are - they're the ones with season tickets. EVERYONE...
In which case, why are non-season ticket holders able to join? And do the club really need a separate list of season ticket holders for cup games? Surely they know EXACTLY who they are, where they live and even what games they actually attend. No need for the "Give us £30/£10 and we might let...
The point is though that IF you have a 'loyalty' scheme IT SHOULD ONLY BE BASED ON GAMES ATTENDED!!! How does having £30 spare show loyalty to the club?
And, as you say, we have 1-2 games EVERY year where this scheme would be 'necessary' for ticket allocation. Why does the club not have that in...
You seriously believe that this is the best way to treat fans? The best business policy for encouraging customers? "Give us £30 a year and you MIGHT be able to purchase a ticket". Can't afford it - you aren't 'loyal' enough!
Why won't the club do the honest thing and simply put ALL the tickets on eBay and sell to the highest bidder? Suddenly £10 tickets become £20, then £40...and that's before travel, etc.
If they want to make as much money as possible, just say so - don't put fan against fan based on 'loyalty', or...
What has the Membership system got to do with loyalty? Go to all the games and miss out. Spend £10 and get a ticket. Spend £30 and get a ticket sooner. Great 'Loyalty' scheme...
First-come, first-served rewards most. If you care enough, get on the phone or online at 9am when things go on sale.
And that's the problem (as usual). It always seems to come as a surprise to the club that people want to actually buy tickets, especially for 'high-profile' games. Why? It's not as if they're 'one-off', or that a set-up to cope with that type of demand/issues won't work on a day-to-day basis.
So what? The club get the same cash whoever attends (assuming they sell out). Restricting who can buy when simply reduces the likelihood of people attending - if people can't go with their friends/families/kids then they may well not bother. Making it harder to be a 'casual' fan is not sensible...
