Yep, I think it was in 2010 -2011 they auctioned off and sold remnants of the Pier and they raised £163k over that period, whilst expenses were £171k. Last year the staff costs alone were £47k.

Here you go this is Sid James on the West Pier Go Kart. At 13:40 in the movie there is some good footage of the West Pier and worth a watch.

I remember watching the filming of Carry On Girls at the pier with Sid James driving a Go Kart for a get away scene. I was about 5 or 6 at the time.

How do you build a life size statue of the pier on the seafront to commemorate it?

I am really surprised at how little film footage there is of the West Pier from when it was in use. The best I can find is a 3D animation.
