Duffy is a good player at what he does in the right system (ie a long block where he plays as an old fashioned stopper). Potter’s system doesn’t, never has and never will suit him. He’s terrible on the ball and has a turn of pace that even my nan would be embarrassed by.
Having seen the guy play there so many times now, I really don’t agree with that. He’s at his best, by some distance, as an inverted right winger. He’s far too predictable down the left. But he seems to get played there because he’s willing to do some defending. It’s really baffling to be honest...
I really like Potter. There’s a good manager in there, but it’s clear he’s still learning. He’s started far too many matches with the wrong team this year and he’s had to correct his own mistakes too often as a result.
Saying that, I think it’s clear we don’t have many of the types of player...
He also gives us the flexibility to move to 3 at the back with relative ease, which we’ve done numerous times this year.
March isn’t a left back though. God only knows why anyone ever thinks he is. His best games for us have never come in that position.
